Freestyle Martial Arts.....Join the Movement!
Freestyle Martial Arts (FMA) is a living martial art with a solid foundation in historical martial arts training.  However, it has the flexibility to allow for the integration of new moves and to adapt to more effective methods of combat and self-defense from other arts.
Freestyle Martial Arts Academy (FMAA) is a vehicle for educating people in the art of FMA.  It is a martial arts academy whose objective is to respect and study all the other martial arts of the world.  In fact, unlike other martial arts academies, our black belt instructors have training in various arts which are then integrated into our fighting style.
It is the culture of FMAA to constantly absorb and integrate moves from other arts.  Often, we improve on the traditional foundation that we have studied and integrated.   At FMAA we are always striving to remain in front of the learning curve.
As in mixed martial arts, we at FMAA also incorporate the concept of dealing with the constant change of range and level in a martial arts context.  Specifically, we focus on developing our students’ mind and body.  We prepare our students to be thoughtful, logical and precise in the execution of the FMA principles.  They are taught to be able to practice effectively the FMA techniques from the kicking, punching and clinching range.  Moreover, they are trained to execute their moves from the standup striking, clinch takedown and ground grappling levels.
We instruct and expect our students to have the ability to practice FMA under any given circumstances and environments.  Furthermore, we put emphasis on developing the mind/body connection to give substance to the physical training they receive.  The student must learn how to think FMA, i.e., after being trained the student will be knowledgeable about how to integrate the specific moves into  effective and concise combinations resulting in a succinct and successful result to any given circumstance.  At FMAA there is no room for seams to be found in the execution of our martial arts style.
Unlike mixed martial arts, we do not limit ourselves to arts which are geared solely to a sports setting, i.e, boxing, kickboxing, wrestling and Brazilian Jui Jitsu.  Real life situations do not lend themselves to limited applications of defense techniques and nor do we at FMAA.
Although our art does incorporate a lot of the concepts from those arts we also incorporate arts geared towards self-defense, combat, other sports martial arts, meditation and mindfulness.  The following is a list of some of the arts that FMA has incorporated:  Tang soo do, Tae Kwan Doe, American Combat Karate, Kung Fu, French Savat, Krav Maga (The Israeli Defense Forces Fighting System), Judo, Japanese Jui Jitsu, dutch kickboxing, Muay Thai kickboxing, Sambo, aikido, hapkido and much, much more.  We also utilize moves created by our black belt instructors that are unique to FMA.
Furthermore, we also incorporate principles of yoga into our art designed to educate our students in the principles of meditation and mindfulness.
Our academy slogan says it best,  “FROM MANY FORMS…ONE ART!”
FMAA is a martial arts academy whose program was created for children, adults and families.  Its primary missions are to educate people in it principles and to be easily accessible to individuals from all different walks of life.  The FMA was designed to be studied by people from the ages of 4-99.  FMAA is the vessel used to transport FMA to the masses.
